Altitude Diving

 

The purpose of this program is to provide the training requirements for instruction leading to the PTRD Altitude Diver certificate.

This training programme aims at introducing the basic concepts of altitude diving to certified  PTRD divers which will enable them to participate in altitude diving in a safe manner.

The specific objectives of the programme are the following:

-To provide the participant with an overview of the training programme and to introduce the participant to the  PTRD as well as the  PTRD International Diver Certification System;

-To introduce the participant to the differences between diving at altitude and at sea level;

-To introduce the participant to the equipment requirements for altitude diving;

-To develop the participant’s knowledge with regard to the use of dive tables for altitude diving;

-To develop the participant’s knowledge with regard to the dive planning requirements for altitude diving;

-To develop the participant’s knowledge with regard to the conservation of the altitude diving environment;

-To introduce the participant to further career development opportunities;

-To access and, if necessary, develop the prescribed essential diving skills of the participant, in the safety of the confined water environment, which will enable the participant to participate in open water diving activities in a safe and competent manner;

-To introduce the participant to altitude diving by providing the participant with the opportunity to gain altitude diving experience by participating in two (2) structured open water training dives under the guidance and supervision of a  PTRD Instructor.
